The start of a journey

In 2021 I quit my job and started traveling the US, attempting to find something that really lit my soul on fire…

I purchased a new camera & one lens, and we set off on a 45 state road trip. I was a total rookie in the world of photography, but super excited to discover my style and learn the art. Here are some images from the start

Yellowstone & Grand Teton National parks

The first stop of the trip included a hard lesson learned - look at the weather forecast. As we arrived the the Grand Tetons, we were welcomed by wildfire smoke! Much to be expected in late summer in the Rocky Mountains, it had done little to deter our enthusiasm for the park and the trip as a whole! I still took more pictures here than almost every other stop in the beginning of the trip, and I actually quite like the veil cast over the area in these shots.

I visited Yellowstone for the first time when I was 21 in the Spring of 2017. I knew after that trip that I wanted - quite desperately - to spend more time in our National Parks, so naturally it was that area that we went first. Here are some images from our 2021 visit!

  • The Badlands & Wind Cave

We hit the Badlands and Wind Cave shortly on our way to the Northeast. I learned another valuable lesson here: Shooting in a cave without a tripod is tough! These are some of my favorites from then, enjoy!

American Northeast

The S0utheast

The Southeast is another region that I had not spent much time in prior to the road trip. I was ready to see the smokeys, hit the beach, and discover what the region held!

Southwest

Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival

One of the only plans plans arranged before we left was the hot air balloon fest. A few days in Albuquerque to recharge the batteries (and get some adrenaline out!) hit the spot.

Now I don’t know how a hot air balloon ride is supposed to end…

We Crashed!

Everyone was okay! I took this photo after we broke a fence and slid to a halt
