Alaska had been on my bucket list ever since I got bit by the travel bug. Even with my expectations at an all time high, boy oh boy did it not disappoint! John Muir was not lying when he said you shouldn’t visit as a young man, you really never will be satisfied with anything else. We visited Wrangell St. Elias & Kenai Fjords National Parks on our 10 day visit We stayed just outside of McCarthy in Wrangell St. Elias. McCarthy feels like a land left behind - in a good way! It was a blast walking to dinner each night, taking in the views and actually unplugging for a few days. During our time in Kenai Fjords we took an incredible boat tour the departed from Seward and went back into Aialik Bay, all the way to the Aialik Glacier - watching the ice fall into the bay was honestly humbling. The sound of the ice colliding with the water makes you realize how much power the glacier has. We saw several Orcas, a few Fin whales, a Humpback whale, Sea otters, Puffins, and Cormorants! This gallery is the best memories from these two journeys - and our time exploring other parts of Alaska in between!
